New Season Memberships Open Now!

Hello and a warm welcome to the opening of the South Island Spearfishing & Freediving Club's 2025/26 season!  As we recently shared on our Facebook group, we have a new and eager committee in place for the coming season with the goal of putting like-minded divers in touch with each other through their club membership.

Whether you're a total newbie diver, dedicated boat diver, comp diver, weekend warrior or fair-weather diver, the club is here to help you broaden your circle, increase your skill set, and get you meeting people and going to places you'd otherwise have missed out on.

Joining as a new, current or prior member is a simple case of going to the top right of this page and either logging in with your current profile, or registering as a new member, selecting your membership option - you'll note you can either be a solo diver, or register yourself and your aged 16-and-under children - then progress through to buy a comp entry (cos why wouldn't ya?! See below for more) and check out. In these tough economic times, we're keeping the annual membership still at only $40 for 17+ and still FREE for kids up to 16.

The SHOW & TAIL IS BACK to the tune of $6000!!!  That's the value of the prize pool for this season's Show & Tail completion, and it is still the ONLY NZ spearo comp that you can enter from anywhere in the South Island. With more species, a wider prize range covering juniors, men and women, plus plenty of spot prizes, this year's Show & Tail comp is back with a BANG. You must be a SISFC member to enter, and it's still only the total bargain price of $25. As an even bigger incentive, this year all juniors are entered automatically for FREE with a mat purchase by their parent. Buy your entry as you renenw your membership, and don't hang about as with only 100 entries available they won't be available for long!

One more thing before you go and join up, and that is to share your feedback with us. Both Karl Eastmond and Andy O'Dell can be reached via spearoclub@gmail.com and on behalf of the committee we want to grow on the strong base the club has established over the years. If you want to see us doing something we're not, to encourage us to keep doing something we are, or beg us to stop doing something you feel we shouldn't, then get in touch and let us know!

Otherwise, may your spears remain forever sharp, your breath-hold a feat of god-like endurance, and every shot straight and true for the season ahead.

Cheers,

Karl Eastmond - President, and the SISFC committee
